Pulley Diameters

To determine the maximum thickness of cover that can be allowed for the smallest pulley, use the graph below as follows:

 

  • Select your cover type.
  • Note the thickness factor (A, B, C or D).
  • To find the minimum size pulley that can be used, select your cover thickness from the vertical axis.   Read this across to the coloured line that corresponds to your material. Read down to the horizontal axis, the value shown here is the minimum pulley diameter that can be used.
  • To find the maximum cover thickness that can be used, select your minimum pulley diameter from the horizontal axis. Read this up to the coloured line that corresponds to your material. Read across to the vertical axis, the value shown here is the maximum cover thickness that can be used.
  • If your required cover thickness is too great as directed by the chart, then you can consider cross slotting.
